Francesco Acerbi Still Doubtful About Playing Against Fiorentina
Lazio defender, Francesco Acerbi is reportedly still a doubt to be able to appear in the next match against Fiorentina in Serie A which will take place next weekend on February 5.
As reported by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, 33-year-old Italian center-back Francesco Acerbi is currently working hard to recover from the left thigh injury he sustained in a 3-3 draw at Empoli earlier this month.
The injury relapsed in that match and Lazio is still calm and does not want to force him to appear which could lead to an even more serious injury. Acerbi was unable to join his Azzurri teammates who had a training camp at Coverciani this week and preferred to recover from his injury at Formello.
The center-back is looking to make a full recovery in time so he can play for the Biancoceleste in the Serie A clash against Fiorentina scheduled for February 5 but there is still a chance he will miss the match. Although he is fully recovered to feature, it seems Maurizio Sarri will not immediately start him.
The 33-year-old has made 24 appearances in all competitions so far, for a total of 2081 minutes. In that period he has scored three goals and contributed two assists. He had problems with hardline Ultras supporters due to his controversial goal celebration which made him no longer accepted by them.
