Sarri Trusts Luis Alberto Again In The Starting Line Up After Looking Impressive Vs Genoa
Lazio midfielder, Luis Alberto has reportedly regained the trust of coach Maurizio Sarri after his impressive performance against Genoa on Friday (17/12) evening local time.
As reported by Radiosei, the 29-year-old Spanish midfielder Luis Alberto previously found it difficult to gain the full trust of the 62-year-old Italian coach, Maurizio Sarri, so far he has only started 12 times in 17 Serie A appearances this season.
But after his impressive display in Lazio's 3-1 win over Genoa last Friday it is likely to change Sarri's mind. The Spaniard came on in the 63rd minute of the game and managed to provide two important assists in his 27 minutes on the pitch which proved to be a concern for the coach.
The coach appreciates Alberto's technical qualities but is concerned about his mentality and level of performance. Apart from that, the former Liverpool player is now hoping to start in Biancoceleste's final match of the year against Venezia on Wednesday night.
The 29-year-old, who is contracted until 2025, has made 22 appearances in all competitions this season for a total of 1380 minutes. In that period he has scored two goals and contributed six assists.
Meanwhile, the Biancoceleste are now ranked eighth in the Serie A standings with a collection of 28 points from 18 matches played so far.
