Sarri: "This Development Of The Game Has Caused Problems For Us, We Lacked A Bit Of Quality, But I Can't Say We Lacked Effort Or We Lacked Commitment."

Coach Maurizio Sarri regretted the mistakes made by Lazio after being beaten by the hosts Sassuolo with a score of 2-1 in Serie A which took place on Sunday (12/12) evening local time.

According to Maurizio Sarri Lazio's error proved crucial as they were beaten 2-1 by Sassuolo although his team was also affected by the injuries to Mattia Zaccagni and Pedro in the match which took place on Sunday night.

The Biancoceleste went ahead through Mattia Zaccagni in the sixth minute but conceded two goals in the second half through Berardi and Raspadori. That means the Italian capital club failed to get a second win in a row with a defeat at Mapei Stadium.

"This development of the game has caused problems for us, because we have to replace Pedro and Zaccagni who have played well, but we also blame ourselves," Sarri said via DAZN.

"We often face teams that play with a 4-2-3-1 system, we knew we had to do it and it was a tough game, Sassuolo is a strong team, technically they are more than just their position in the table.

"We made some mistakes and we were unlucky with Pedro and Zaccagni's injuries," continued the coach.

"We lacked a bit of quality, but I can't say we lacked effort or we lacked commitment."

The defeat did not change the position of the Biancoceleste standings, which remain ninth in the Serie A standings with 25 points after 17 matches played. Next, they will face Genoa on Thursday (16/12) evening local time.
