Update On Immobile's Injury
Lazio provides an update on the injury suffered by their star striker, Ciro Immobile. The Italian capital club has revealed that the 31-year-old has suffered a minor calf injury and will miss the match against Juventus and is a doubt against Napoli.
Ciro Immobile withdrew from the Azzurri national team in the World Cup qualifiers against Switzerland and Northern Ireland due to a muscle soleus problem. According to reports by Sky Sport Italia, the swelling and bruising have reduced considerably and tests have shown he has a low-grade injury to his left calf muscle.
An injury like this is sure to keep Immobile out of the game next weekend when Lazio takes on Juventus in Serie A. However the Biancoceleste have hope that the 31-year-old striker will recover in time for the match that will take place in his hometown against Napoli on 28 November.
So far Immobile has scored 11 goals and provided two assists in 15 competitive games this season between Serie A and the Europa League. The Azzurri international striker's contract at the Stadio Olimpico runs until June 2026 which will mark ten years of his career wearing the Aquile jersey.
Previously, the situation had heated up between the president of The Aquile, Claudio Lotito, and the Azzurri national team staff regarding the striker's injury, both parties blamed each other for this. But now that seems to have subsided, coach Maurizio Sarri also has plans for his team which will be without the striker for some time.
