Tare: "The Priority Right Now Is To Have An Organized Team On The Pitch. Sarri's Tactics Are Difficult To Implement, But Once It Is Automatically In The Minds Of The Players, We Can Do Better."
Igli Tare confirmed that Lazio is in negotiations with coach Maurizio Sarri to extend his contract. The director admitted that the 62-year-old man responded positively.
Lazio just had a 2-2 draw with Olympique Marseille in the Europa League group stage continued on Thursday (04/11) evening local time. News revealed this week that apart from signing a new contract until June 2023 this summer, Maurizio Sarri has been in discussions to extend his contract until 2025.
"This was indeed both side decision, it came from Sarri's request as well," Tare said via Sky Sport Italia.
"He saw an opportunity to do well at Formello. This is a strong signal that we have started a project here.
"This is just the first stage and we have to be patient, but want to send a signal for the future."
The results and performance of the Biancoceleste so far are considered inconsistent, so at what stage are the Italian capital clubs now, this is the director's answer.
"The priority right now is to have an organized team on the pitch. We've done well against Atalanta and Fiorentina, we've understood the situation and now it's just a matter of finding more confidence and consistency."
"Sarri's tactics are difficult to implement, but once it is automatically in the minds of the players, we can do better."
The Aquile will then face Salernitana in Serie A on Sunday before the international break.
