Lazio successfully beat Salernitana 3-0 in the 12th week of the Italian League. This result makes the Biancoceleste overtake their city rival AS Roma in the standings.
Playing at the Olimpico, Lazio opened the scoring in the 31st minute. Pedro Rodriguez's heading pass was completed by Ciro Immobile with a header that Salernitana goalkeeper Vid Belec failed to save.
Five minutes after the first goal, Pedro's turn to record his name on the scoreboard. Taking advantage of Norbert Gyomber's blunder, the former Barcelona striker completed the opportunity he had with a right-footed shot from close range to break into Salernitana's goal. The score of 2-0 lasted until the break.
In the second half, Lazio added to the advantage through Luis Alberto's right foot kick in the 69th minute. The Spaniard managed to take advantage of a cross provided by Felipe Anderson.
Salernitana was not without chances for 90 minutes. Milan Djuric had a chance to catch up in the 47th minute, but his header hit the post. Two minutes before Alberto's goal, Franck Ribery also almost scored, but his shot also hit the post. The 3-0 score for Lazio lasted until the end of the match.
This result makes Maurizio Sarri's squad move up to fifth with 21 points, overtaking Roma who collected 19 points to sixth. While Salernitana is in 19th place with just 7 points.
