Sarri: "It Was A Tough Match. Olympique Marseille Is A Very Technical Team, They Caused Us Problems. When We Play Too Deep, We Become Vulnerable."
Lazio coach, Maurizio Sarri is disappointed his squad failed to take full points against Olympique Marseille. Sarri is determined to win the remaining two matches of the 2021/2022 Europa League Group E qualification.
Lazio had to settle for sharing points with Marseille after the match ended 2-2 at the Velodrome Stadium.
After the match, Sarri also acknowledged the strength of Marseille. The former Chelsea and Juventus coach also expressed his disappointment because his team could not get full points. However, Sarri also claims that the draw is positive.
"It was a tough match. Olympique Marseille is a very technical team, they caused us problems and we conceded the equalizer when we seemed to have a game in hand," said Sarri.
"Disappointingly, we didn't win completely, although looking at the table makes a bit of a difference, as we still need to win the last two games."
But on the other hand, Sarri said that this draw was a positive result. Given that, Marseille is a club that is tough enough to beat.
"Getting a draw here is a positive result, we had some difficulties early on, controlling the game, but when we play too deep, we become vulnerable."
This draw is indeed a pretty good result for Lazio. The reason is, they are still ahead of Marseille on the standings of Group E by a point difference. In which the team made by Sarri is ranked second with a total of five points.
