Sarri Has To Decide Whether He Will Repeat His Experiment To Put Pedro As False Nine Or Try To Put His Trust In Vedat Muriqi In The Next Biancoceleste Match
Lazio winger, Pedro did not show a convincing performance when played by Maurizio Sarri as a false nine when Lazio was beaten 2-0 by Juventus in the Serie A match which took place last Saturday night.
As reported by Italian newspaper La Gazzeta dello Sport, 62-year-old coach Maurizio Sarri was forced to rethink his attack after their main striker, Ciro Immobile suffered a calf injury and he did not want to start Vedat Muriqi against the Bianconeri.
Sarri instead chose to make Pedro a false nine and put Mattia Zaccagni in his place on the wings. But the plan didn't work, the winger's movement without the ball was far from what he wanted and he failed to threaten the Juventus defense, with Immobile's absence becoming even more pronounced from the start.
The 62-year-old Italian coach now has to decide whether he will repeat his experiment in the next Biancoceleste match or try to put his trust in Vedat Muriqi. The Italian capital team will face Lokomotiv Moscow in the Europa League on Thursday.
The defeat to Juventus saw them drop one place in the standings to sixth, overtaken by city rivals AS Roma after 13 games played so far in Serie A.
Meanwhile, Sarri has asked for a new backup striker in the January transfer window which suggests the departure of the Kosovo international striker is inevitable with the favorite destination being his former club, Fenerbahce.
