Pedro Is Ahead Of Muriqi For Replace Immobile As False Nine

Lazio coach, Maurizio Sarri is reportedly planning to use winger Pedro as a false nine after main striker Ciro Immobile suffered a calf injury.

As reported by the Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Lazio striker Ciro Immobile has a fluid buildup in his left calf that will keep him out for the next 20 to 30 days.

These conditions have certainly made coach Maurizio Sarri think hard about placing players who will replace him in attack ahead of the two matches against Juventus and Lokomotiv Moscow.

The 62-year-old coach has started to think about possible solutions and the most likely is to operate Spanish winger Pedro as a false nine, as he had done during his time at Napoli using Dries Martens and Paulo Dybala at Juventus.

This has to be done by the coach after the appearance of the Kosovo striker, Vedat Muriqi failed to convince him, making Sarri shift Pedro more into the middle.

The 34-year-old has a contract with the Biancoceleste until 2023, so far he has scored four goals and provided two assists in 12 appearances in Serie A this 2021/22 season.

The Biancoceleste are currently fifth in the Serie A standings after 12 matches.  In the last match before the international break, they beat Salernitana with a score of 3-0.  Immobile himself became the top scorer with a contribution of 10 goals so far at the start of the 2021/22 season.
