Luis Alberto: " Little By Little We Are Doing What The Coach Asks Us To Do And We Are Improving A Lot. What They Asked Of Me Was More Defensive"
Lazio midfielder, Luis Alberto is in high spirits after his team's 3-0 win over Salernitana on Sunday (07/11) night. He highlighted the improvement in the team made by Maurizio Sarri.
Luis Alberto was one of the goalscorers in Lazio's 3-0 win over Salernitana, the other two goals from Ciro Immobile and Pedro. The 29-year-old player gave his comments about his goal against the Granata.
"I wanted to try to pass but saw he had opened his legs then I immediately shot and I was lucky," he said via Lazio Style Radio.
"I'm happy to have helped the team, now we are there."
Next, he discussed the growth of the Biancoceleste under Maurizio Sarri this season.
"Little by little we are doing what the coach asks us to do and we are improving a lot, in the last games we have seen a different Lazio, but this is the way it is," he explained.
"We have to continue like this because we are getting closer to the Champions League zone."
The addition of three perfect points has brought the Biancoceleste to fifth in the standings ahead of this week's international break. The 29-year-old has looked at the matches that will be played by The Aquile after that.
"We have to think about the first game because Juventus are always difficult to play against, we have made a lot of mistakes, but we have taken a step forward, let's keep this consistency."
"We know how to face the Bianconeri, we have the motivation, let's go together."
He then discussed his changing role under the 62-year-old coach this season.
"I had a lot of chances today and what they asked of me was more defensive, I improved a lot, but I miss games like that. A more complete match in both phases."
So far the Spaniard has made 12 appearances in Serie A this season with a total of 800 minutes. In that time he has scored two goals and contributed four assists and finally began to adapt to Sarri's 4-3-3 system.
