Lazio Raises A Protest As Their Supporters Are Prohibited From Going To Marseille
Lazio responded to the French authorities after their supporters were barred from traveling to the match against Marseille, declaring it an unacceptable insult to the supporters and the club.
The French authorities have decided to ban Aquile supporters from traveling to Marseille's Velodrome stadium to attend their favorite team's Europa League match.
The reason is still questionable and The Aquile immediately issued a firm statement against the decision.
"The decision by the French authorities to ban, as a precautionary measure, travel to the city of Marseille for Lazio supporters is not surprising and is in line with what the Italian authorities decided in the first leg," read a club statement as quoted by Football-Italia.
"On the other hand, the method of implementing the regulation on a national scale and the reasons that cannot be justified (as reported by the national news) are surprising."
"We cannot accept the insults directed at the Biancoceleste fans and at the club, who have always fought against malicious behavior and discrimination of any kind both inside and outside the stadium with concrete actions."
"We always put in place initiatives aimed at promoting the basic values of sport and overcoming all barriers of a social, cultural, economic, ethnic and religious nature, as has been widely recognized even at the highest institutional level."
"We have also seen that violence in stadiums is unfortunately still widespread and is a worrying phenomenon, starting with what happened recently at the Velodrome in Marseille."
"We, therefore, expect clarification from the French authorities and a clear stance from our diplomacy towards the expression of anger that should anger all Italians, regardless of whether they are fans or not, and the color of their flag."
