Sarri: "At The Moment, Milinkovic-savic And Luis Alberto Cannot Play Together, If We Faced A More Defensive Team Then We Could Try"
Maurizio Sarri explained his tactics after Lazio was held to a goalless draw by Olympique Marseille in the group stage on Thursday (21/10) by revealing that the capital's two main midfielders, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Luis Alberto cannot be played together.
Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri explained the tactics he adopted after his team was held to a 0-0 draw against French representatives, Olympique Marseille in the third match of the Europa League group stage on Thursday.
"It was a good game against a very good team, at the start we weren't sharp while in the last 30 minutes we should have finished with a bit of luck," Sarri told Sky Sport Italia.
"I feel we can break the deadlock at any moment, so there are some regrets about the result, we looked solid, convinced we could end up winning and we almost got it."
The 62-year-old coach opted to sideline Luis Alberto for the second straight game after the 3-1 Serie A win over Inter Milan and confirmed he would continue.
"At the moment, Milinkovic-Savic and Luis Alberto cannot play together," he said.
"After the last game I realized it wasn't going to happen, if we faced a more defensive team then we could try, but we saw Luis train in the last few days and he is better to play when the game is played at a slower tempo.
"We have prepared vertical passes in a very special way and Danilo Cataldi is a playmaker that suits my style of play, but Lucas Leiva has the mentality and experience, I will use both."
