Luka Romero Is Included In The List Of The 60 Best Young Footballers In The World
Lazio's young striker, Luka Romero is included in the list of the 60 best young footballers version from the British media. The Argentine player has just been brought in by the Italian capital team last summer from Real Mallorca.
As stated in the British newspaper, The Guardian, 16-year-old Argentine midfielder Luka Romero is on the list of 60 promising future talents in the world of football today. Also on the list are Barcelona's Gavi and Manchester City's Romeo Lavia.
Romero was recruited by Lazio in July this year from Spanish club RCD Mallorca for a transfer fee of 200 thousand euros. He became the youngest debutant in La Liga last season and earned the nickname 'Baby Messi' thanks to his ball-handling and smooth dribbling.
The youngster made his Serie A debut for the Biancoceleste under coach Maurizio Sarri by playing in the final nine minutes of his side's 6-1 win over Spezia in August. At that time he was 16 years, 9 months, and 10 days making a record as the youngest Biancoceleste player ever to play in the league.
He broke the record previously held by Lorenzo De Silvestri who is currently a full-back at Bologna. On 23 July 2005, De Silvestri made a brief appearance for The Aquile in the match against Tempere United in the third round of the Intertoto Cup when he was only 17 years and two months old.
The 16-year-old Argentine has been training regularly with the first team and has built a solid friendship with young Spanish player Raul Moro.
