Bakayoko And Milan Respond To Racist Abuse Cases By Some Lazio Fans

September 14, 2021

AC Milan and Tiemoue Bakayoko have finally responded to the racist abuse that the midfielder suffered from Lazio fans during the third Serie A Giornata match last Sunday (12/9) night at the San Siro.

As Calciomercato points out, 15 minutes into the second half of Rossoneri's win over the Biancoceleste, there was a substitution made by Stefano Pioli with a loan player from Chelsea brought in to replace Franck Kessie.  As the home fans applauded, humiliating racist chants were heard from the visitors' support group.

"These bananas are for Bakayoko," the song was heard and the incident was certainly not well received by Milan, who immediately gave their statement on social media.

"Regarding the discriminatory shouting at our player Tiemoue Bakayoko, which came from the visitors' sector and was alerted by several journalists and spectators, AC Milan, after appropriate investigations, is considering filing a complaint with the FIGC," the statement read.

This is not the first time Lazio fans have racially abused the Frenchman and Kessie. This is another big indication of how far the fight against discrimination has gone.

The 27-year-old midfielder also commented on his Instagram account, writing: "And to some of the Lazio fans and their racist shouts at me and my brother Kessie. We are strong and proud of the color of our skin. I have all my faith in our club to identify them."
