Igli Tare Comments On The Difficulty Of Competition In The Europa League Group Stage
Lazio's sporting director, Igli Tare described the difficulties the Italian capital club will face in the group stage of the 2021/22 Europa League season. Maurizio Sarri's team is in Group E which feels like the Champions League.
Talking about the draw for the 2021/22 Europa League group stage, Lazio's sporting director Igli Tare realizes his club is in a difficult group but he feels positive about the chances of Rome's club going further in the European competition.
"This is a Champions League group, but we know what we can do," the director said via Corriere Dello Sport.
Biancoceleste joined Group E along with representatives from Russia, Lokomotiv Moscow, representatives from France, Olympique de Marseille, and representatives from Turkey, Galatasaray. All four teams are known for their incredible fan support, so the return of fans to the stadium this season means that Aquile fans should be eager to support their favorite team while playing at the Stadio Olimpico to help them overcome their opponents.
Coach Maurizio Sarri won the Europa League with Chelsea while coaching the west London club for one season and his experience looks set to be invaluable this season. The Roma club reached the last 16 of the Champions League last season before being beaten by European giants Bayern Munich. But this season they will play in Europe's second-tier competition after finishing sixth in the Serie A standings for the 2020/21 season.
