[FRIENDLY] SV Meppen - Lazio = 1 - 1
Vedat Muriqi saved Lazio from defeat by scoring a goal in a draw against German third division club SV Meppen after mistakes made by Luiz Felipe, Ciro Immobile missing a penalty and Joaquin Correa being shown a red card in a friendly on Wednesday (04/08) evening local time in Marienfeld.
Coach Maurizio Sarri was unhappy with Lazio's performance in Marienfeld after their pre-season training session for several days was resumed with this friendly. As reported by Football Italia, the coach repeatedly shouted from the touchline that he wanted his players to move the ball after one or two touches.
A mistake made by Luiz Felipe resulted in the opener for the hosts through Kruger just 13 minutes into the game. It didn't take long for the Biancoceleste to equalize through Muriqi who took advantage of Felipe Anderson's through ball.
Furthermore, Raul Moro wasted several golden opportunities, while Muriqi's header still hit the bar and Luis Alberto failed to capitalize on his rebound. Euro 2020 champions Immobile and Francesco Acerbi made their debuts in pre-season in the second half but the striker's performances have remained underwhelming.
He made a promising opportunity but still bounced over the bar after beating goalkeeper SV Meppen and then his penalty was saved after Joaquin Correa was brought down in the box. The Argentina international, who has been linked with Inter, looked tense as he was shown two yellow cards for dissent.
