Akpa Akpro Ready to Sign New Contract With Lazio Until 2025

Lazio reportedly presents midfielder Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro with a new contract that will last until 2025. The player managed to convince coach Maurizio Sarri in pre-season sessions held in Italy and Germany.


As reported by Italian newspaper Corriere Dello Sport, 28-year-old Ivorian midfielder Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro managed to convince coach Maurizio Sarri in the second pre-season training session in Marienfeld, Germany and the club have decided to reward his progress.


Although it is still unclear whether Sarri will keep the midfielder in his squad or not, at the moment his position in the team is clear so Lazio will soon finalize his new contract for the former Salernitana player.


The Biancoceleste will reportedly give the midfielder a new contract that will expire in 2025 with a salary increase included. While the previous contract lasted until 2024 and was worth around 1 million euros per season.

The 28-year-old Akpa Akpro made 32 appearances in Serie A last season under former coach Simone Inzaghi for a total of 1032 minutes. In that period he contributed one assist and helped his team keep 12 clean sheets by playing as a defensive midfielder in a three-man formation in midfield. Now he and his teammates have returned to Italy to continue their preparations for their Serie A opener against Empoli on 21 August.
