Former Strikers Compare Maurizio Sarri And Simone Inzaghi
Former Arezzo striker Antonio Floro Flores who was once coached by Maurizio Sarri said he was happy with Lazio's decision to appoint the 62-year-old coach to replace Simone Inzaghi at the Stadio Olimpico. He then compared the two coaches which he thought were very opposite.
Antonio Floro Flores compared Maurizio Sarri to his previous coach, Simone Inzaghi, who left the Biancoceleste after five years and decided to join Inter.
"He is the complete opposite of Inzaghi, his way of playing is different, his character is also different," said the 37-year-old via La Lazio Siamo Noi.
"In recent years he has brought great results for all the clubs he has coached, Lazio has made outstanding signings and I think they have improved."
He also commented on the difficulties the Biancoceleste will face this summer in trying to find a squad that fits the system adopted by the former Juventus coach 4-3-3, who is certain to leave Inzaghi's 3-5-2 formation.
"I think it's always a challenge for a coach, I'm doing this job now, Sarri came to a club where they adopted a completely different style of play than he thought," he said.
“He is someone who always wanted to play football who would never give up, who gave the team an important identity as he did with Napoli.
"He and Lotito are two people with strong characters, it will be interesting to understand their relationship, sometimes you have to compromise."
He also discussed how Sarri's appointment was a good opportunity for the Biancoceleste to revitalize their squad a bit this summer by building a squad around the existing star players.
"I think this is the right time to make a revolution at Lazio, there are some players who have been there for a long time, a right decision to keep players who still want to stay, those who want to leave must be replaced immediately."
"Players like Milinkovic-Savic, Immobile, Luis Alberto, and Leiva will help him a lot, he makes players like that perform at their best."
