Lukaku: I Want To Convince Sarri
Sarri will have an extra full-back. Jordan Lukaku will not be redeemed by Antwerp. The full-back will return to Rome, the contract with Lazio expires in 2022
Away from the capital last season, Lukaku managed to chase away the demons of injuries and find continuity on the pitch with 29 appearances. He has linked to Lazio for another year: another opportunity to convince the fans and the coach.
Meanwhile, he gave a long interview for Il Messaggero:
"When I landed in Rome in 2016, the fans said they had caught the wrong Lukaku because I came from a European in which I had not played well. Unfortunately, the injuries affected me, now I'm fine, but I would have been thrilled to be able to be with my big brother and my national team in the quarter-finals.
"Belgium is favorites, but nothing is taken for granted in this European. What happened to France will have to serve as a lesson. Much for us will depend on the presence of De Bruyne and Hazard. They are in strong doubt and, without them, our offensive game suffers a lot.
"I heard from my brother and he's loaded. He is not affected by the pressure, he proved it with Inter by winning the Scudetto. Between a friend and blood, I always choose the family without any doubt. Both Immobile and Romelu, however, are two beasts in front of the goal, they don't miss a beat. The numbers and the goals say it.
"We line up against each other even when we play at the Play. He even studies my performance in detail on Wyscout and corrects every mistake for me. When we played together in Anderlecht he even did it on the pitch, live.
"I was impressed with Italy. The Azzurri have won all the games with ease. They play well and the defense always holds. I hope not, but they have what it takes to win.
"I haven't talked to Sarri yet, but I'd love to work with him. It would make me grow and I believe I can be useful. In the meantime, I'll be safe. Lazio called me and told me to show up in Formello on 10 July. Then I'll leave for Auronzo and maybe I'll convince the coach."
