Lazio Ready To Keep Thomas Strakosha For Next Season
Lazio reportedly plans to keep the services of goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha but first must resolve his contract issues. Previously, it was widely said that the Albanian international goalkeeper wanted to leave this summer due to his very lack of playing time.
The Aquile have been linked with the transfers of Cagliari goalkeepers Alessio Cragno and Pierluigi Gollini from Atalanta but both clubs are reluctant to sell their goalkeeper for under 15 million euros. Since then the negotiations are stalled and Maurizio Sarri's side has not made any approach in recent weeks.
According to news reported by Italian media, La Lazio Siamo Noi on Monday (21/06) local time revealed that The Aquile has decided to keep Thomas Strakosha and veteran Spanish goalkeeper Pepe Reina as their two goalkeepers next season. The departure of the previous coach Simone Inzaghi is considered to be able to help Strakosha return to being the first choice.
However, Biancoceleste must resolve issues related to the 26-year-old goalkeeper's contract first which expires next year in 2022 and the club wants to extend it before the start of next season if he is to become a regular in the starting XI again. Last season he was neglected and lost to Pepe Reina by only making 11 appearances in all competitions.
